Most people with chronic hepatitis B do not feel sick or show any symptoms unless it is in its late stages. This leads to serious complications which includes:
Cirrhosis, or scarring of the liver: This makes it harder for the liver to do its work because the liver tissues are replaced with scarred tissues. This eventually leads to Liver failure.
Liver failure: This is when your liver is no longer able to do its work. If the liver fails your body also fails.
Hepatocellular Carcinoma (Liver Cancer): This is a malignant tumour that begins in the liver.
Kidney disease: Researchers have found that people with cirrhosis caused by hepatitis B may be more likely to have certain types of kidney disease.
Blood vessel problems: These include inflammation of the blood vessels.
